Sandbar

Gold Coast - Australia

A holistic new design concept brings the ‘good times always’ vibe to one of Surfers Paradise’s most well-known venues.

Celebrating 20-years on the beachfront, the iconic Sandbar has had a massive facelift and the new-look digs are attracting the eyes of both locals and tourists. Gold Coast raised, co-owner Jake Short, who spent the last seven years living part-time in Indonesia, decided to throw his full energy into the total overhaul and re-launch of one of Surfers Paradise’s most established Bar and Restaurants.

Getting involved in the project with Jake, Mahallati Interiors conceptualized and developed a stylish and inspiring environment that emotionally resonates with patrons whilst bringing a slice of seaside sophistication to Surfers Paradise that would be right at home on the Italian Riviera.

Mahallati’s team realised the entire concept by 3D rendering the designs and fine tuning the look and feel of both the indoor and outdoor eating areas. The design brief was colourful, urban industrial and the combination of fixed and loose furniture designed and supplied by Mahallati achieves this effect in an understated and subtle manner. It is not until you look closely that you realise the hanging planters are made from recycled oil drums, and this is the way the industrial flavour almost imperceptibly percolates through the layout.

More specifically referring to materials -the outdoor furniture features tables and benches made from powder-coated aluminium with Teak tops and seats, and the chairs are made from natural rattan pole with woven synthetic rattan. Sunbrella fabric on stylish square umbrellas complete the outdoor section. Indoors we see tables and chairs made from a combination of Mahogany and Mindi with tasteful paint-finishes. Sunbrella fabrics feature again in the cushions and sofas. Subtle industrial flavour trickles through the simplicity of the crate style pieces.

To upgrade and completely change the look and feel of a venue that is well known for a particular style is no small challenge. This is the kind of project that the team at Mahallati Interiors take in their stride. From initial concept through production and shipping or fitting, Mahallati can provide full project service -café or restaurant through to hotel or resort. High quality products and professional service are part of the package.

The new Sandbar radiates the vibe of a Bali beach bar. It is a fresh, classy venue where everyone can enjoy a never-ending summer and almost feel the sand between their toes as they enjoy good food and refreshing beverages.
